Guide
October 23, 2026
Summer camp can feel out of reach when your child has medical or physical needs. BC has camps built for exactly these kids, with accessible facilities and staff who know what they're doing. Registration usually opens in winter or early spring, so it's worth planning ahead.

Zajac Ranch for Children (Mission, BC)
Zajac Ranch runs medical camps for kids and young adults with medical conditions and disabilities. Past sessions have included camps for kids with heart, blood, and digestive conditions, kids who are blind or partially sighted, and autistic kids, plus young adult camps. The site has an accessible waterfront, ropes courses, a climbing wall, horses and a petting zoo, and an indoor pool. A camper allowance has been offered on medical camp sessions to help with cost. Ages vary by camp, so check the current schedule.
Easter Seals camps (Squamish, Shawnigan Lake, and the Okanagan)
Easter Seals BC/Yukon runs overnight camps for kids 6 to 18 with physical or intellectual disabilities, plus adult sessions. Activities include swimming, climbing, adaptive sports, and camping. The BC Lions Society subsidizes the camps, so kids can attend free of charge.
Help paying for camp
- Cerebral Palsy Association of BC offers camperships for special needs camps.
- Ask each camp about subsidies. Many have them.
Questions to ask before you register
- What nursing or medical staff are on site, and how are medications handled?
- How do they handle feeding tubes, seizures, or other needs specific to your child?
- What's the camper-to-staff ratio?
- Can you visit or talk to a past camper's family first?
