Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 1, 2026

Hi, I'm Gaurav. NextAbilities is a community for people navigating disabilities, and many members share sensitive information about themselves and their families. I take that seriously. This Policy explains what I collect, how I use it, and the choices you have. I'm the only person handling member data right now. It's short because the operation is small.

My core commitment

I will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to advertisers, data brokers, or any other external party. Full stop.

I only share information with the services I need to run NextAbilities, and only to the extent they need to do their job. The details are below.

1. What I collect

When you apply and use the Site:

  • Account info: your name, email, and password (stored securely by Memberstack).
  • Application answers: your responses to the membership questions, including what you choose to share about your connection to the disability community.
  • Referral: the name of the member who referred you, if you provide one.
  • Content you post: reviews, experiences, guides, comments, and community posts.
  • Messages you send me by email or through the site.
  • If you contribute to a Fund a Family campaign or a supporter link, you share information with Givebutter. I don't see or store your payment card details.

Automatically:

  • Basic usage data, like pages visited and approximate time on site, through Webflow's built-in analytics.
  • Technical data, like IP address, browser type, and operating system.
  • Cookies that help the site remember you and run correctly.

2. How I use it

  • Run NextAbilities, including managing your account, reviewing applications, hosting conversations, and publishing what you share.
  • Communicate with you about the community, updates, and issues with your account.
  • Keep the community safe, including spotting spam, abuse, and rule violations.
  • Understand how the site is being used, in aggregate, so I can make it better.
  • Meet legal obligations, like responding to a lawful request.

I don't use your information to target you with ads or to build a commercial profile.

3. Who I share it with

Only the services I need to run NextAbilities:

  • Webflow hosts the site and provides analytics.
  • Memberstack handles accounts and the approval workflow.
  • Discourse hosts community conversations. Your Discourse profile shows whatever name and avatar you choose there.
  • Givebutter processes donations for Fund a Family campaigns and supporter contributions.
  • Google Workspace handles my email and internal docs.

Each of those services has its own privacy policy. I may also share information if you explicitly ask me to (for example, featuring your story), if I receive a valid legal request, or if I need to investigate serious abuse or threats. If NextAbilities ever moves to a nonprofit or fiscal sponsor, I'll tell members and this Policy will continue to protect your information.

4. Cookies

I use a small number of cookies to keep you logged in and to see which pages get visited, in aggregate. I don't use ad cookies or third-party tracking pixels for marketing.

5. Kids

NextAbilities is for adults to use while some of us will be parents of children with complex needs (like me). You need to be 18 or older to have an account. I don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. Many members are parents and caregivers who share stories about children in their care, which is welcome, but please be thoughtful about what you share about them and get their input and consent where age-appropriate. If you think I've collected information from a child under 13, email hello@nextabilities.org and I'll delete it.

6. Your choices

You can:

  • See and update your account info from your account page, or ask me at hello@nextabilities.org.
  • Request a copy of what I have about you.
  • Ask me to correct or delete your information.
  • Opt out of non-essential emails at any time.
  • Close your account by emailing hello@nextabilities.org.

If you live somewhere with specific privacy rights (like California or the EU/UK), I'll honor them in good faith. As the project grows and the laws that apply get more complex, I'll formalize this section.

7. How I keep it safe

The site uses HTTPS, accounts are password-protected through Memberstack, and access to internal tools is limited. No system is perfectly secure, so I can't guarantee absolute safety. If I ever learn about a breach that affects you, I'll let you know.

8. How long I keep it

I keep your information while your account is active and as long as I reasonably need it to run NextAbilities. When you close your account, I delete or anonymize your personal info within a reasonable time (aiming for 90 days), except where I need to keep some of it for legal or safety reasons. Content you've published may stay visible after your account closes unless you ask me to remove it.

9. Changes

I may update this Policy over time. When I make meaningful changes, I'll update the "Last updated" date and email members for anything significant.

10. Contact

Questions or concerns about this Policy or your data? Email hello@nextabilities.org. I read everything and aim to reply within a few days.
