TL;DR since most people don’t read these in full 🙂
Hi, I'm Gaurav. I built NextAbilities as a free, approval-gated community for people navigating disability and the people who support them. Right now I'm running it on my own. These Terms of Use explain how the site works and what I ask of members. They're written in plain language because that matches the scale and spirit of this project. Over time, as the community grows and the project formalizes, these terms will get more detailed.
By creating an account or using nextabilities.org and the connected community on Discourse (together, the "Site"), you agree to these terms.
To create an account, you must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate information during sign-up. Membership is application-based. I review every application to help keep the community safe and on-mission, and I may approve or decline at my discretion.
Keep your login credentials secure. You're responsible for activity under your account. If you think your account has been compromised, email me at hello@nextabilities.org.
NextAbilities exists to support people. When you participate, please don't:
If you do, I may remove the content, suspend your account, or remove you from the community.
You keep ownership of reviews, experiences, guides, comments, and other content you post (your "Member Content"). By sharing it on NextAbilities, you give me permission to display it on the site and the community, to share it in NextAbilities communications like newsletters, social media, and grant applications, and to make light edits for clarity, length, or accessibility. I won't sell your content to anyone.
You're responsible for what you share. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share, and be thoughtful when writing about identifiable people (especially children in your care).
If you want your content removed, email hello@nextabilities.org. I'll take it down within a reasonable time, though copies may remain in backups or where others have quoted it.
NextAbilities is peer support and shared community knowledge. It is not medical, legal, or financial advice. Reviews and experiences on the site reflect individual perspectives and may not apply to your situation. Please consult qualified professionals before making decisions about care, equipment, therapies, or benefits.
NextAbilities features fundraising campaigns for families navigating disability, run through Givebutter. Fund a Family contributions are pass-through: they go directly to the family you're supporting, minus the standard payment processing fees that Givebutter and its payment partners charge. NextAbilities doesn't take a platform fee or a cut.
A few things to know:
Separately, if you'd like to help sustain NextAbilities itself (the tools, the hosting, the time I spend running the community), you can do that through a "buy me a coffee" style support link. These contributions support my work on the project and are not tax-deductible.
NextAbilities runs on Webflow (website), Memberstack (accounts and approval), Discourse (community), Givebutter (fundraising), and Google Workspace (email and internal docs). If you use the Site or community, your use of those services is also subject to their terms.
You can close your account at any time by emailing hello@nextabilities.org. I may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms.
The Site is provided as is. I'm running it on my own, and I can't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of mistakes. I'll do my best to keep it working well and fix issues as they come up. Please use the information you find here at your own discretion and judgment.
I may update these terms over time, especially as the project formalizes. When I make meaningful changes, I'll post the updated version here, refresh the "Last updated" date, and email members for anything significant.
Questions, feedback, or concerns? Email hello@nextabilities.org. I read everything.
